Binge celebrated their new HBO show The Last of Us earlier this week as they hosted a preview night for fans and guests alike to showcase the premiere episode. Working alongside our good friends at Wonder, we created a set that not only impressed but also professionally replicated the HBO event from the United States.
Our talented team recreated everything from the ground up as we delivered a life-size Clicker sculpture complete with feature wall as well as decorated media wall with dark, post apocalyptic tones and dead plants… so, how did we get there?
First, we received reference imagery from HBO and Binge of how the U.S. red carpet media wall would look and our team got to work to replicate this immaculately down to the fine details including aged, decaying paint finishes to the concrete wall as well as custom graffiti from the Firefly characters straight out of the show and Playstation game. The media wall was then topped off with a custom made garden bed to frame the wall and give it that extra dystopian feel.
Next came the infected Clicker sculpture! Our team then got to work on recreating and full size textured Besser block wall. The wall was again designed from scratch and then applied to 3 ply boards which our team first cement rendered to give it that true wall touch. Then came time to print the designed wall to each panel utilising our giant flat bed printer which truly made the wall look as though it was solid concrete!
The wall pieces then went off to our professional sculpture along with high-res imagery of the shows Clickers and HBO event for him to recreate. The final product? Incredible (and scary) infected remains of a creature stuck and growing out of our set, complete with spores and fungus as well as industrial pipes and a working light to add to the spookiness.
The final result was a resounding success, with fans and influencers swarming to the sculpture for selfies and media wall shots. Our team did and outstanding job nailing this event at the Ritz Cinema in Randwick and Binge were also over the moon with the final product and fan feedback!
