Design and Fabrication of a Giant Dragon Egg For The Launch Of House Of The Dragon on BINGE.

House Of The Dragon Launch On Binge

We created a giant dragon egg from Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon.
To launch the highly anticipated Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, Binge wanted to create a lifelike dragon egg replica, to generate buzz and achieve a record-breaking premiere for the streaming service. In collaboration with our friends from Wonder, 1800’s brief was to not only recreate the iconic dragon egg but bring it to life – making it appear as though a living, breathing dragon was inside. The challenge included a tight deadline of 8 weeks, perfect colour and texture replication, functionality and complex installation on Anglesea Beach.
Thriving on the creative challenge, our team meticulously dissected the design brief, ensuring each element matched the client’s vision. The team successfully crafted a perfect oversized replica, incorporating intricate details to emulate the infamous dragon egg’s appearance and functionality.
Choosing Anglesea Beach for installation posed logistical challenges, but our team’s problem-solving skills prevailed. An all-terrain telehandler was employed for transportation, and with an engineer's guidance for public safety, the dragon egg was successfully installed overnight. The team worked tirelessly through the night, even sweeping away tyre marks to help maintain the illusion and authenticity the egg just washed up on the beach, ready for the sunrise media call, where the outback wrangler himself, Matt Wright, was flying in to ‘collect the egg.’
The House of the Dragon premiere became Binge’s most successful at the time, attracting 1.25million viewers, with the campaign successfully generating widespread interest and excitement. The replica dragon egg now resides outside the Foxtel office in Melbourne, offering fans the opportunity to get up close and personal with the iconic symbol.
